23-12-2008 Update: "The Birds"

The planned remake of Alfred Hitchcock's horror classic The Birds has gained attention, according to the film's producers. Platinum Dunes' Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have revealed that a script for the reinvention is due within the next couple of weeks.

"We're expecting a script in the next 2-3 weeks, but...it's not like Drew, Michael and I think that we're just going to c**p all over Alfred Hitchcock's movie," Fuller told Collider. "I mean, Alfred Hitchcock in a company-wide opinion is probably the greatest director of what we do and other things too.

"And as someone, who at least Michael and I studied in college...there's a reverence for him. So that's not a movie that we're just going to step up and just go have birds attacking people...If we can't make that movie unique or add something to it, I don't think we're going to make it."

"Once you get a filmmaker like Martin Campbell and start talking to an actress like Naomi Watts, a project can pick up momentum," added Fuller. "But they're not interested in making the same movie that Hitchcock made."

Congratulations to Naomi and Liev as they have welcomed their second child.

"I can confirm Naomi and Liev had a baby boy yesterday," the actress's representative told People.com.

03-12-2008 Naomi to pose nude for painting

It has been reported that Naomi is in negotiations to pose nude for artist David Bromley in a painting to be submitted for the Archibald Prize next year.

Bromley, whose exhibition with Andrew Taylor (husband of the actress Rachel Griffiths) opened at the Tim Olsen Gallery in Woollahra last night, told SiT the portrait was still in the planning stage.

"My people are talking to her people," he joked. "I think she will fit the pop quality of what I do really well, [also] she has these amazing eyes and a really strong gaze, which is why she is wonderful as an actress."

No stranger to celebrity, Bromley has painted Kylie Minogue. An exhibition held last year contained a collection of well-known faces - and bodies - including those of Megan Gale, Cheyenne Tozzi, Kirsty Hinze, Collette Dinnigan and Kate Ceberano.

30-11-2008 "The International" at the Berlin Film Festival

It has been confirmed that Tom Tykwer's "The International," the action thriller starring Clive Owen and Naomi Watts, will open the 59th Berlin International Film Festival on February 5.

Screening out of competition, the feature will be Tykwer's second Berlinale opening, following "Heaven," which bowed at the 2002 event.

06-11-2008 Naomi in "Mother And Child"

According to Variety, it seems that Naomi and Annette Bening are set to star in "Mother And Child". The film is to be written and directed by Rodrigo Garcia.

The tale features multiple story lines as it follows a woman who abandoned her daughter and another woman who is looking to adopt a child. Other stars of the film include Kerry Washington and Shareeka Epps.

"Mother And Child" will begin shooting in 2009.

22-10-2008 Naomi in "My Name Is Jody Williams"

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Naomi is in talks to star in "My Name Is Jody Williams", a drama that Audrey Wells will direct for Universal. The screenplay by Wells tells the true story of Jody Williams, a strong-willed teacher working for a temporary employment agency who left her life in Washington to pursue an unlikely career in global activism. Almost a decade and a half later, Williams was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for leading an international campaign to eradicate land mines.

Brash and somewhat controversial, Williams famously called President Bill Clinton a "weenie" for not signing the land mine ban.
