Sexiest Woman over the age of 35
May 29, 2007
|
|
Naomi was chosen #4 of Sexiest Women over the age of 35 according to the editors at MSN Lifestyle: Men. Salma Hayek, Halle Berry and Diane Lane topped the list.
"Naomi Watts’ ability to succeed as a mainstream star and remain a respected indie actress earned the 38-year-old fourth place on the Sexiest list."
Things have been pretty quiet in Naomi's life and career these days. Hopefully news will increase in the next few weeks, as the birth date of her baby and the release of Eastern Promises approach. Stay tuned!

'Funny Games' Update
May 19, 2007
|
|
According to the latest reports, these are the latest news from the upcoming Funny Games:
Haneke decided not to show the movie in Cannes on the grounds that the original was in competition in 1997 and it didn't make sense to show Funny Games at the same festival twice.
Apparently, the shot-by-shot remake is 20 seconds shorter than the first film.
It has also taken note of technological changes in the last decade. Characters now use mobile phones. Instead of videos being rewound, there are DVDs.
The advance word is that Naomi Watts and Michael Pitt give exceptional performances.
It has been confirmed that the $15 million movie will be completed by the end of June.
The distributors will be marketing it as a smart, offbeat thriller that the kids will enjoy just as much as the critics.
The film looks set to premiere at a major autumn festival (Venice or Toronto).

'Funny Games' Update
May 1, 2007
|
In the midst of celebrating the Tribeca Film Festival screenings, New York-based independent producer Linda Moran of Belladonna Productions chatted with Fangoria about the upcoming remake of Mivhael Haneke's own Funny Games. The new movie stars Naomi Watts and Tim Roth as a married couple who, along with their young son, are terrorized by a pair of youthful home invaders (Michael Pitt and Brady Corbet). According to Moran, however, only the faces have changed for this redux. “It is literally a shot-for-shot remake,” she tells Fango, “so we haven’t changed the ending or anything like that.”
“We actually had blueprints from the house that was used in the original, and we went on a soundstage and built a set that matched those proportions exactly. Then we had to go out and find an exterior that would work as well. We shot in the Hamptons, at Shelter Island and southern Long Island. You’ll probably find that the look will be different; the compositions probably won’t be changed much, but since Darius [se7en] Khondji shot it and he’s such a great cinematographer, the images are going to be a little more lush, where the original is really dark-looking.”
Things certainly get dark in a dramatic sense for the helpless family, and Moran praises the resilience of Funny Games' cast. “They were incredible,” she says. “It was very hard on the actors; we put them in a room and tortured them for days on end. Michael is very exacting in the way he works, so they were challenged by that idea and came in knowing what they were getting into, and they definitely rose to the challenge. Naomi Watts in particular was just remarkable; she had to get tied up and gagged for real, because Michael didn’t want to fake that—he didn’t want it to read that way on screen. But they were all very good.”
Funny Games is scheduled for a January 18, 2008 release.
